Noel Fitzpatrick, at Fitzpatrick Referrals, talks in depth to vetpulse.tv about his pioneering collaboration with Stanmore Implants Worldwide to revolutionise the treatment of amputees through the use of the ITAP (intraosseous transcutaneous amputation prosthesis).
Underpinning the ITAP is the concept, never before employed in veterinary science, of mimicing the growth of deer antler in metal, to create a permanent feature that can be used to attach a prosthesis to, reducing the risk of infection and irritation for the patient.
