Waggy Tails Dog Training Centre is run by Alison Garforth who is a qualified and experienced Behaviour Counsellor and Dog Trainer, registered with the Association of Pet Dog Trainers and has Kennel Club listed status to run The Good Citizen Dog Scheme.
Alison has many years experience and has studied with the College of Pet Animal Studies based in Shropshire on canine behaviour and training, which has inspired her to want to help others by sharing her knowledge and understanding of the canine world.
Alison also offers assistance with any individual needs you may have like recall problems or behaviour advice.
All trainers and helpers at Waggy Tails DTC use positive reward training and encourage clicker training, this allows your dog to make its own decisions, when the right decision has been made a click is heard and a reward is given.
We do not bully dogs by using physical control or harsh methods, our aim is to help YOU train YOUR dog and to have fun doing so.
We work with dogs and owners at their own pace, as we understand that everyone learns differently and has different abilities.
Key
Services:
All puppies love to learn new things, explore and work things out, at Waggy Tails we teach puppies to use thier own natural abilities but in a fun way.
We teach the puppies new experiences, by guiding them around cones and walking over different surfaces, this helps teach them to be more aware of their body space. We also use trotting poles to help teach them with coordination and to feel more balanced within their own body, this then helps them grow into more confident and mentally well balanced young adults which will help with adolescence.
In our puppy classes we use positive reward training using food rewards, toys and praise, our classes are friendly and informal, you will meet other puppy owners where you can share your experiences of owning a puppy.
We have question time after every class which encourages owners to talk about any problems they might be having.
The classes run for 7 weeks, on the first class you will receive a welcome pack with lots of information. In your welcome pack you will receive a diary which will be checked and marked each week on your puppy's progress.
We will have a talk without your puppy for the first session, then your puppies come along for some fun for the next six weeks.
We take up to 5-6 puppies in one class and if the weather is fine we will do outside training as well as inside.
Some of the things you will work towards are:
Play useful games instead of rough play and learn how to take an article away from your puppy.
Socialisation with an unknown dog.
Socialisation with an adult unknown to your puppy.
Handling & inspection to maintain health.
Recall.
Basic puppy positions ie Sit, Down and Stand.
Lead work.
Stay.
Sensory ground work on and off lead.
