Peter Mackenzie, struggling Veterinary Artist sets up studio in rural Northamptonshire.
Peter Mackenzie, vintage vet , Dick Vet Piper and artist has taken the bull by the horns to launch his artistic career in Litchborough near Towcester, Northamptonshire.
Peter is leaving PDSA where, for the past 10 years he has worked in Northampton then Glasgow to move back to England to develop his love of all things art.
Peter qualified in 1974 from the Dick Vet and worked in general practice, industry and MAFF as it then was, to eventually setting up in practice in Fochabers Morayshire.
Quotes Peter, “Along came the mid-life crisis, motorbikes, divorce etc and I eventually sold the practice as a going concern to enter Grays School of Art in 1992 as an elderly hippy where I graduated in 96 with first class Honours. Market forces meant me going back to Vet work where I joined PDSA and for the last 10 years have struggled to paint alongside the demands of hi- pressure charity work.”
“Subject matter is what’s around me at the time, people, places, events and I am developing my website through vetontheweb to give everyone an insight into my approach. I am happy to undertake commissions of any kind but still relish the freedom of expression I have always worked for. Happy viewing”
